After 6 weeks of work, my TT Vert repaint project is virtually complete. I still need to get the new leather put on the seats, & get a few clips, but that's about it. I took off every body panel, & every piece of trim, so I could paint door jambs & the back side of every visible panel. So this was a very time consuming project. The paint prep took the most time, as I took every imperfection out of the body before paint. Ultra red base coat (Dupont Chromabase) was $600 per gallon, not counting reducer, which took a full gallon (2 gallons sprayable, after adding reducer). Chromabase clear was $250 a gallon with hardener. And it took 2 gallons of clear. Add all the other supplies, labor for my helper, and expenses at my shop, & this turned into a pretty expensive project. But it turned out awesome, so it was worth it. This was my 1st time using Dupont Chromabase, & I am very impressed with it. It goes on great, the color is very deep, and the clear looks like glass after wet sanding & buffing. I would recommend it to anyone. Since I am in Minnesota, the only thing I need now is about 4 months to melt all of this snow, so that I can drive it :-( Anyhow, here's 15 pictures of the project from start to finish.
